A singer and an aspiring war photojournalist, Victoria Saxxon is in her second semester in the newsroom at LAVC. During her first semester as a photographer for the Valley Star, Saxxon’s photos made it to the front page twice. The photos consisted of political protests and events on campus. She also won an award from the LAVC’s Journalism Department in the spring semester of 2024 for covering a story about an opportunity offered to students called the POPP program. The photos taken of the POPP program will soon be published online, in print and in the magazine. This fall semester, Victoria is aiming to cover the election, politics and sports. Saxxon is pursuing her photojournalism bachelor’s degree and plans to transfer from LAVC to Chicago Columbia College. Victoria hopes to go into war photography to show the reality of the brutality of war zones.
